Elbow at the 9:30 Club!!!

4/1/2009 - Who wants to go see Elbow with me when they come to the 9:30 club?

| 8/4/2009 - I have my ticket for Elbow tonight and I really want to go to gym. But I'm afraid I'll be way too tired to go to both. It's just a shame my ears are still ringing from Tool last week. I just wish I wasn't so freaking busy!!

Tuesday August 4, 2009:
When I got there, the parking lot was only somewhat full, even though the show was sold out. I got in okay and hit the bar downstairs for a drink before Jessica Hoop came on. Jessica Hoop's set was okay, just her and her guitar. She seemed very sweet though and definitely felt more like a VH1 storyteller's performance. She told a story of how one song was written for her straight edge Mormon mother who had cancer and she convinced her Mom to smoke with her to ease the pain. So she wrote the song while under the influence and had an awesome conversation full of emotions. I thought she was a bit like Regina Spektor and Heather Nova. Which was appropriate because they had Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek song on when I walked in. I ended up getting a spot about five rows back because the balcony was already full by the time I got to the club. There were no shirts over by the merch table, none with tour dates on it or anything. The crowd was pretty cool and it was nice being so up close because it was really mellow. I got some really great pics with my new cell phone. I'm glad I skipped gym and took a quick nap before the show, so worth it. I met some cool folks at the show, Charles and Sarah. I was only annoyed when they broke out the cigarettes and started smoking but the management had a talk with them and they came back without the cigarettes. They were fun, but that was uncalled for. I had told Charles they didn't allow it anymore and he said he even knew about that! Anyways, Elbow was awesome. I loved it!
