9/24/2019 - Here at The Anthem for Massive Attack's Mezannine XXI tour! Finally!!!

Tuesday September 24, 2019:
I left work around 4:30 and got home at about 5:30 with plenty of time to spare! I was able to take a quick nap and take the dog out and eat dinner all before leaving for The Anthem. I'm lucky The Anthem is really close to my apartment, even with traffic it's only about a 20 minute cab ride. This had been a long time coming since the original date was 3/20 but the band couldn't make it overseas then and decided to reschedule for 9/24! I got to the venue at about 7:30 PM. Picked up my ticket at Will Call, pretty easy. Found out there was a side entrance for those of us who had box seats and not GA, which was great because the line for GA looked like a mess! First time I was sitting at one of the boxes, the other two times I had been to The Anthem I was General Admission on the floor. I liked the seat I was in much better when I moved towards the middle of the box, luckily two seats were available a bit closer to the stage and the original seat I had had a weird gap next to the end so I was worried I was going to drop something the entire time! They started at about 9 PM and played all of Mezannine plus some cover songs including Velvet Underground, The Cure, Bauhaus, and a cool Ultravox song Rockwrok. I was pleasantly surprised to see them do AVICII's Levels! The visuals were of course amazing as always as it was very political as well. Highlights of the show definitely included Angel, Risingson, Dissolved Girl, Teardrop, and Inertia Creeps. I was a bit disappointed to find out the t shirt I got had 1998 tour on it instead of this tour. Oops! Surge pricing was crazy immediately after the show let out, $40 for a normally $15 ride home, so I waited a half hour by the Wharf's bonfire, then got home all right. Onto the next!
