Soundgarden, At Last!! With The Mars Volta!

Tuesday July 12, 2011:
Soundgarden was so bittersweet for me! They were the first band that I ever got a CD from, the Badmotorfinger/Somms disc. So basically they paved the way for at least 200 more CDs over the years. Also, I tried to go see Soundgarden at about 15 years old, even had a friend to go with, but my folks wouldn't let me. That was in their prime. I'm glad I finally got to go, it was weird but very comforting to know they are still around rocking like it was the 90s again. The setlist was overall extremely good, only song I would have thrown in there was Mind Riot. At one point, Chris even picked up a sign that had Mailman on one side and Mind Riot on the other, and said they'll play it next time they come through. D'oh! They played The Day I Tried To Live, Slaves And Bulldozers, Rusty Cage, My Wave, Black Hole Sun, Fell On Black Days. So many great songs! Such an awesome time. And when I arrived, since I got off work early and showed up an hour and a half before doors even opened, so I hung out with a dude in the parking lot who gave me a few beers before the show. So fun! We listened to his ipod. Green Jelly, I hadn't heard them in years! Thanks John the bus driver! Had a beer inside the venue too and pretzel bites for dinner. Mars Volta was cool. I got a Soundgarden poster and a T shirt at the merch table. Had pretty good seats. Overall it was really cool to be at Soundgarden finally and I enjoyed it so much!
