Saturday December 13, 2014:
Although I was pretty hyped up for this show, I was blindsighted by just how bad the Rock And Roll Hotel really is. It had been years since I'd been to a show year, the last time being Local H in 2008. The venue is dirty, sightline terrible for the stage, the staff is rude, and they make you wait outside even after you bought your tickets in advance. The same person who runs the coat check also does Will Call. Mostly, though, they just pack way too many people in which makes it super uncomfortable. The opening band, Mephiskapheles, was just okay. I didn't care much for the rhetoric about race due to the protests happening around town. I wish there was more of a separation of concert and preaching at shows. The Slackers were just okay too. But at that point we couldn't see a damn thing so we ended up leaving early. Oh well!!
