Agnes Obel was pretty amazing! I planned it out pretty good, too. Parked over at Foggy Bottom, lucking out with a spot, took the Metro in and cabbed back after the show. Gem Club was okay. The singer droned on and they definitely weren't as good as Agnes. The singer said they got locked in a building before the show so they were even lucky to have made it! Agnes reminded me a lot of Victoria Heseketh (Little Boots), which was kind of neat. Her set was full of songs from her supporting album, Aventine. They also played Dorian which was great, and Close Watch, which was a shout out by request from the audience. Words Are Dead was great and of course the best part was Smoke And Mirrors as the final song. At one point, the instruments caused the whole room to shake so much from the vibrations that it was a truly unique, awe-inspiring experience. Tickets were worth every penny! Great show indeed. I only wish the folks in the row behind me would have shut up for more than two minutes!
