Like A Blister In The Sun

2/1/2019 - 80s Dance Party at the Carlyle Club in Alexandria! Between me and Bobbie we had a good group and she brought some friends along including a nice lady named Subria and my friend Dave came too. The DJ was just okay but the food & service was terrible! Meh.

Friday February 1, 2019:
I had seen this event sell out in the past so I was curious to check it out even though the reviews of the Carlyle Club were pretty disappointing. The reviews were spot on! The Meetup event I had created with a friend was pretty much a bust. We had a good table otherwise, since my friend dropped $100 to reserve it. So Bobbie brought two of her friends and I brought my friend Dave. The food looked pretty terrible and one of my friends at the table said her calamari was pretty bad and even didn't like the wine much either! I was glad I had dinner before I left home, I was still the first one there too! The DJ started off okay but then went from bad to worse. They did a little Name That Tune in between sets but the songs were so obscure and there was a promise of a costume party that might have happened but we left kind of early at 11 PM to head over to Soundcheck for Paul Oakenfold! Bobbie had an extra ticket so I was able to crash that event too. All in all I suppose Carlyle Club was a fun night with the right people but the crowd was weird and the DJ not great, plus with the bad food, watered down drinks, and the shitty service I'd say it was almost pretty forgettable! I did like that he played Violent Femmes Blister In The Sun though, that was a highlight for me for sure! But Billie Jean over any other Michael Jackson song? I dunno.
