So Much For The Afterglow
Tuesday April 22, 2003:

At the 9:30 Club, Everclear played a show worth $25, but my housemate Chad got us in for free. We left the house around 9:15 and got there by 10, just in time to see The Exies perform their song My Goddess. Then, Everclear came on around 10:15. Everclear played You Make Me Feel Like A Whore, Heroin Girl, Wonderful, Santa Monica, Father Of Mine, and Everything To Everyone. They closed with a cover of Cheap Trick's Surrender. Learn How To Smile was especially cool, complete with happy faces on every wall. In the middle of Santa Monica, Art stopped the show to make sure a girl in the front of the crowd was okay after she had fallen. During Father of Mine they grabbed someone from the crowd to jam on guitar with them. The kid lost his cell phone but it was returned to him during the show. During the Cheap Trick cover, everyone jumped up onto the stage. Then, people were holding the bassist up on the crowd as he was standing, almost like crowdsurfing, but standing. Although we were the second row back, we got into the front of the balcony for the encore. I was glad Chad got us in for free!
