Local H At The Black Cat
Enter Review Update:
Ryan and I went to see Local H with Chevelle and The Kickovers. Chevelle was okay. The Kickovers sucked. They did play Sweet Dreams though. Local H finally took the stage and the entire show was incredible. The first 20 seconds into it Ryan and I realized we were actually in the middle of the mosh pit. Oops! I made it around the mosh pit back to where Ryan was. He looked like he was having a great time, I had convinced and even bought his ticket to come. Local H had so much energy! They played Half Life, Baby Wants To Tame Me, Fritz's Corner. They also did Bound For The Floor, Rock N Roll Professionals, Hands On The Bible, Eddie Vedder, High Fivin Mother Fucker. They didn't play Back In The Day this time. For their encore, Scott brought out strobe lights and a hell of a lot of smoke. Scott crowdsurfed while playing and made some comments about Dave Chapelle. He also played It's So Easy by Guns N Roses and Helter Skelter by The Beatles. The Animal stuffed toy from The Muppets was a nice touch. I got the shirt based on Special K. After the show, Ryan and I stuck around a bit and talked to Scott and James. He said that the strobe lights were cool but that it messed with Brian's drumming too much. One of the other guys who was talking to Scott asked him what his influences were. He said Creedence Clearwater, Led Zeppelin. We asked him where they got the name Local H and he said it was a secret, and to think of two REM songs. Too bad I didn't have enough money to get us back home. We ended up walking from The Black Cat all the way back to American University. It took us at least two hours on a hot summer night!
