They Might Be Sucking In Concert
Enter Review Update:
They Might Be Giants was a free show in Washington DC. I got my final paper done by the time I left the house and got to the show by 4 that afternoon. There were three opening bands. The first was a band called Spiraling. They were okay, I liked their cover of Aha's Take On Me. The second band was Juniper Lane. They were meh. I didn't really like them much. Then came Lake Trout. Their music was original and very cool to hear! It was definitely the right band but I think they were at the wrong concert. I wanted to say hey after their set, but I was in the second row and couldn't really budge. I also figured I waited long enough for They Might Be Giants to come on, so I should give them a chance at least. The fans were so dorky there! They had been talking about every little thing during each song and ripping Lake Trout apart. Yeah, I do that to some bands, but the way these guys did it was just annoying to me. Lake Trout played about 15 minutes overtime. The They Might Be Giants fans were bitching about how they should be on instead, and how much Lake Trout sucked. They looked like they were going to cry! It was a free show, damn it! So They Might Be Giants finally came on and for me, they were the ones who sucked! They I liked their 'You're Not The Boss Of Me Now' song from the Malcom in the Middle show. That was great. They also plugged in an AM-FM radio and did a cover of Don McLean's American Pie. But even the other songs I did know, like Birdhouse In Your Soul and Dr Worm sucked. I left even before their first encore set. I was still glad I went. I got to hear the great Lake Trout.
