8/27/2012 (Monday), Day 03:
I'm finally home and somewhat well rested after my first real night out in Hong Kong! I slept most of my first day to try and recover from jetlag. Didn't really work. Wallace's family has a really nice Indonesian maid who made me some soup for lunch yesterday, ramen with hot dogs and meatballs. I really like how she made the ramen soup! Seems like watermelon is their usual dessert here in Hong Kong at Wallace's house. Met up with Wallace after getting a little lost downtown but it was only a $3 cab back. I'm sure Wallace appreciated me asking cute girls if I could call him from their phone so he could get their numbers too haha! Wallace and I went to a Vietnamese place that was pretty good. The chicken wings were pretty decent. We went out for karaoke with his buddy Clifton who I met back on our trip to San Francisco back in highschool so that was a bit of a surprise to see him again! Pretty cool. Hong Kong karaoke was amazing! I ended up staying in a hotel downtown that night since I wanted to explore Hong Kong a bit the next morning. The hotel was nice but still no sleep. Damn jetlag! Ended up getting some awesome pictures. Found the MTR subway nice, different, and clean. Damn near perfect. Free 15 minute wifi was pretty cool too! The Avenue of the Stars was neat - got to see Chow Yun Fat's star, Jet Li too. And Bruce Lee's statue. Had a pitstop at Causeway Bay for breakfast and a few plates of dim sum later found out the beach was too far so went exploring and found the promenade instead. The apps on my cell phone have been super helpful so far! Went back to Nathan Road which reminds me of Broadway. Took the MTR back to Wallace's home. Tri (the maid) made me a sandwich. Hope to see the Symphony of Lights and The Peak soon. Next week is Beijing and Shanghai! What a trip!
