Wednesday April 29, 2015:
I had never seen Candlebox before so it was fun to see Kevin Martin and his buddy Adam play an acoustic set. Highlights of the show included Cover Me, Blossom, Change, You, Miss You, Lover Come Back To Me, and Far Behind. I loved the storytelling aspect. It was neat to hear him talk about Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, the Seattle grunge movement, doing mushrooms and repeatedly clicking the remote, 90's music versus today's, how Miss You was written for his dad who was a WWII vet and he only realized how powerful that was when he saw Saving Private Ryan, how Lover Come Back To Me was about a line in Apocalyptico, and how Far Behind was also written about Andy Wood from Mother Love Bone. He mentioned how he was such good friends with Layne Staley and how he saw him two weeks before he died and that he was in great health. Then some girl in the audience wanted to hear Far Behind so much that they played it for her, because really why else would they have played it? I was excited to meet Kevin after the show. I only wished it was a seated show since it was acoustic. It was weird since a lot of folks were talking through it and being annoying like that.
